Mary Sue Siegel was born in Sioux City, Iowa in the USA, the granddaughter of immigrants from Romania, Greece, Sweden, Germany and Ireland. She has been involved with theatre her entire life, starting with her first performance at the age of four.

She has lived in the Netherlands since 1975.

Training sessions in "Storytelling as a Healing Art" at Emerson College, Sussex, England, under Ashley Ramsden and Nancy Mellon.
